I no longer feel the need to be perfect says Susanna, 48

LOOKING glamorous in a ruffled blue and white tulle gown, Susanna Reid shows off her new slimmer figure.

But the Good Morning Britain presenter insists she has no desire to be perfect despite shedding a stone and a half after giving up alcohol.

Mother-of-three Miss Reid, 48, says she is proud to be a ‘real woman’ who just happens to be on TV.

Posing for Prima magazine, she said: ‘The best thing about life in my 40s is being able to give myself a break. I no longer feel the need to try to be perfect all the time; it’s a false game because none of us are perfect. I now realise that you can have moments of weakness and that’s fine.’ Miss Reid, who regularly shares natural, makeup-free selfies on her Instagram account, said she sometimes doesn’t recognise herself in photographs.

‘I often look at pictures of myself and think, “Wow I don’t like that.” But that’s normal isn’t it?’ she said.

‘There are more bad pictures of me in existence than there are good. But the fact is I’m a real woman, I just happen to be on TV and I’m quite proud of that.’

Miss Reid, who presented BBC Breakfast from 2003 to 2014 before moving to ITV, is now single after splitting from millionaire Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, 53.

She said she feels wonderful following her recent weight loss. ‘I’ve lost a stone and a half … and I feel fantastic.’

The full interview is in the June issue of Prima, out today.
