Naked vet’s assistant who hurled bottle at lover is spared jail
A WOMAN who stripped naked and attacked her boyfriend with a wine bottle during a drunken hotel row was spared jail yesterday.
Amelia Oxenford, a 21-year-old vet’s assistant, was filmed shoving Alex Buttigieg out of their room in Ascot Hyde Park Hotel in Bayswater, central London, in January.
CCTV footage showed her chasing him through a corridor with the bottle. Mr Buttigieg said she later threw it at him.
The couple – who had shared two bottles of wine and cocktails – had been arguing over Oxenford seeing another man when they briefly separated. By the time police arrived, Oxenford had snatched Mr Buttigieg’s glasses off and slashed his nose with a shard of broken glass in their room.
She was found guilty of assault and causing £300 of criminal damage on Monday. Oxenford, of Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire, wept as she was sentenced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. District Judge Ken Grant handed her a 12-month community order with a ten-day rehabilitation requirement and 160 hours of unpaid work. She must also pay a court bill of £950 – £620 in costs, £250 in compensation to Mr Buttigieg and a £80 victim surcharge.
