Disgraced MP vows to clear her name
SHAMED former MP Fiona Onasanya has insisted she will clear her name only days after becoming the first parliamentarian in British history to be stripped of their seat by voters.
The 35-year-old yesterday confirmed that she will not stand in the by-election that was triggered when voters in her Peterborough constituency signed a recall petition.
In a message online, she said: ‘To those who sent racially abusive, threatening, bullying, derogatory and vulgar remarks... I will clear my name.’
Onasanya was jailed in January for lying to police about a driving offence. There were 19,261 signatures to remove her from the seat, even though only 6,967 were needed.
