SHARES in Ultra Electronics jumped by 5.3pc, or 83p, to 1656p after a confident assessment of prospects at its annual meeting.

Chairman Tony Rice said that trading had continued in line with expectations and that the firm’s Focus, Fix, Grow initiative was producing positive early results.

The business, which supplies its wares to the aerospace, defence, cyber- security and energy sectors, reckons 2019 will be a year of underlying progress.
