CLASSIC DAD AND SON CLASH
DAVID EGAN, 19, will try to become the youngest jockey to win tomorrow’s 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket when he partners Roger Varian-trained favourite Qabala. The pair won the Nell Gwyn Stakes at the course’s Craven Meeting last month. Egan’s father John rides Garrel Glen in the 1,000, a rare example of a father and son competing in the same Classic. Tom Cannon Jnr and Snr rode against each other in the 1888 1,000 Guineas and St Leger.
