Queen are richer than the Queen!

THE members of rock band Queen are now richer than our monarch, it was claimed yesterday.

The three surviving stars, behind such songs as I Want It All and We Are The Champions, are together said to be worth £445million, following the global box office success of biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. They each earned an extra £25million in the past year, putting them ahead of Her Majesty, 93, whose personal fortune – excluding the Crown Estate and royal art collection – is unchanged at £370million.

The claim, made in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List, puts the wealth of guitarist Brian May, 71, at £160million and drummer Roger Taylor, 69, at £155million.

Bassist John Deacon, 67, the only surviving member not to attend the film premiere, has his wealth put at £130million, his first time in the rankings for 13 years.

The dividend has come as young listeners have shown a sustained interest in the rock band, whose singer Freddie Mercury died in 1991.
