15,000 incidents on anti-Semitism dossier
A HUGE dossier detailling 15,000 incidents of Labour anti-Semitism has been submitted to the human rights watchdog.
The group Labour Against Anti- Semitism ( LAAS) made its formal submission to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, requesting it to hold a full investigation.
The dossier holds evidence of hate crimes – including threats of violence – which were reported to Labour and the police but resulted in no further action.
There are more than 15,000 screenshots taken from hundreds of Labour members and officials promoting anti-Semitic views, including links between Labour members and neo-Nazis.
It also highlights Labour’s inadequate response, including an internal description of LAAS reporting as ‘ spamming legal queries’. LAAS said this added up to evidence of institutional racism.
Euan Philipps, the group’s spokesman, said a team of volunteers spent two years, collecting evidence of Labour members promoting anti-Semitic views on social media.
He added: ‘The response by Labour to our reports has been shocking.
‘Reports have been submitted and ignored; we have seen senior figures within the party escape censure; members have been suspended and then weeks later quietly had their suspensions lifted.
‘Most distressing of all, reports containing the most appalling levels of racism have been given only the lightest reprimand. The message again and again has been the same: We don’t care about this issue.’
