Kylie: I wonder how it feels to be a mother

‘I’m 50 now and more at ease with my life’

KYLIE Minogue admits she still wonders what it would be like to have children – even though she’s accepted that her cancer treatment a decade ago means it may never happen.

The pop star candidly discussed missing the boat on motherhood as she prepares to turn 51 later this month.

Miss Minogue had a medically-induced menopause after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, which left her unable to conceive naturally.

She conceded that, although she hadn’t been thinking about starting a family at the time, the disease had ‘changed everything’.

She said: ‘I was 36 when I had my diagnosis. Realistically, you’re getting to the late side of things. And, while that wasn’t my agenda at the time, it changed everything. I don’t want to dwell on it, obviously, but I wonder what that would have been like.’

Miss Minogue told how she has remained positive, saying: ‘Everyone will say there are options but I don’t know. I’m 50 now and I’m more at ease with my life.

‘I can’t say there are no regrets, but it would have been very hard for me to move on if I classed that as a regret, so I just have to be as philosophical about it as I can. You’ve got to accept where you are and get on with it.’

The Australian singer also spoke about finding happiness with her new boyfriend Paul Solomons after ‘lying’ to herself in her previous relationship.

Miss Minogue, who broke off her engagement to actor Joshua Sasse in 2017, has had a string of failed romances. ‘I’ve made mistakes,’ she told the Sunday Times Style magazine. ‘I regret lying to myself. Like, “this is OK”, and doing the merry dance. And yet we’ve all been there, we’ve all done it. But I don’t see myself doing it again.’

She and Mr Solomons, 45, were introduced in February last year through mutual friends. She said of the creative director of British GQ: ‘I’ve met someone I feel good with. He’s an inspiring, funny, talented guy. He’s got a real-life actual job. It’s lovely.’
