Teens in 70ft cliff fall ‘trying to sneak into music festival’

- By Izzy Ferris

THREE teenagers are fighting for their lives after plunging 70ft from cliffs on to a beach while apparently trying to sneak into a music festival.

Coastguards rescued the trio just after midnight yesterday after one managed to raise the alarm on his mobile phone.

The friends, aged 18 and 19, were treated at the base of the cliffs near Porthleven, Cornwall, before being airlifted to hospital, where they have multiple injuries described as ‘potentially life-threatening’.

Police are looking into claims the men were trying to get into the Masked Ball music festival when they fell.

A witness said: ‘The helicopter landed in a field next to the site. It’s quite a rocky cliff face. They weren’t festival attendees because they didn’t have wristbands on from what I’ve heard.’

A spokesman for the Masked Ball said it was aware of the incident, adding: ‘Our thoughts are with the three people.’
