SALAH ‘OUT COLD FOR SIX SECONDS’
MOHAMED SALAH had tests yesterday to determine whether he suffered concussion following a sickening collision that left him ‘unresponsive’. The Liverpool forward was carried off during his side’s 3-2 win at Newcastle after goalkeeper Martin Dubravka
collided with him in the 67th minute. Salah required extensive treatment on the pitch but was able to watch the remainder of the game in the dressing room. According to Dubravka, Salah may have been ‘out for five or six seconds’ and didn’t answer when Newcastle defender Fabian Schar checked to see if he was OK. If Salah suffered concussion, he will miss the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona tomorrow and will not be able to train until next Saturday, the day before Liverpool play Wolves at Anfield. Salah, who had been in tears as he was carried off, looked pale and dazed when he left St James’ Park to board the coach for Newcastle Airport but he was fine on the flight and spent the night at home. He joined the squad at the training ground yesterday for a warm-down session and was assessed by the club’s medical team.
