WE’LL GATECRASH ANFIELD PARTY, VOWS COADY

- LAURIE WHITWELL at Molineux

CONOR COADY may have allowed himself a little exaggeration when claiming he has received ‘millions’ of requests for tickets to Wolves’ last game of the season.

But he is straight as can be about spoiling any potential party at anfield. The Wolves captain was a liverpool player for eight years and grew up an ardent fan of the club. His friends and family have been on at him for a seat to what could be the first title celebration in a generation. There have also been a few mischievous associates suggesting he could even aid the side so close to his heart.

‘everybody knows i supported liverpool growing up but i’m playing for Wolves now,’ Coady said. ‘We go there full of confidence and hopefully to get the win.

‘We’re playing good stuff and want to end the season on a high. every other week i look at liverpool and hope they win games. But i play for Wolves and no matter who we are against we’re going there with the mentality to win.’

against Fulham on Saturday, leander dendoncker swept in a sweet volley, effectively guaranteeing Wolves a seventh-placed finish in a superb season. Nuno espirito Santo’s side have won three games in a row and look in the mood to cause an upset at anfield. They have already beaten Klopp’s team in the Fa Cup.

dendoncker is excited at the prospect. ‘ That’s one of the reasons i came here, to play in big games like this,’ he said. ‘i’ve never played at anfield before. We will try to do our thing, play our usual game and you never know.’

Matt doherty provided the cross to dendoncker for his eighth assist of the season. The wing-back hopes seventh place means a europa league spot, just one season after Wolves won the Championship. ‘Considering where we were two years ago, it’s pretty unbelievable how quickly the change has happened,’ doherty said.
