Trump on the ball with Presidential honour for Tiger
WHOEVER thought the most divisive US president in history would do something that would find favour with the vast majority? It happened yesterday in the Rose Garden of the White House when Tiger Woods was awarded the nation’s highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Of course, you could argue from a cynical standpoint that it never does a president any harm to be associated with a black sporting icon, and particularly this one. But Trump did not need any advisers to tell him the scale of what Tiger achieved with his astonishing comeback victory at Augusta National last month. The mad-keen golfer was tweeting along such lines as the unforgettable afternoon unfolded. Woods is just the fourth golfer to receive the medal after Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Charlie Sifford, the first AfricanAmerican to play on the PGA Tour.
