Cheeseburger pizzas a boost for Domino’s
A POPULAR new ‘cheeseburger’ pizza boosted sales at Domino’s.
The London-listed company said its new pizza variety had become one of its most popular ever.
Other strong sellers included the Delight pizzas, which contain fewer calories, Domino’s said.
In a trading update it posted a 4.3pc rise in sales to £324.4m for the 13 weeks to March 31.
That included £299.3m of sales in the UK and Ireland and £25.1m further abroad, although that was a drop of 2pc compared with last year’s figures.
It said performance of its international business had been disappointing and warned it was not likely to break even this year.
Domino’s also said it remained in discussions with franchisees amid a row over rising costs.
This hit the number of new stores it launched, with the group opening just four in the first quarter compared with nine in the same period last year.
David Wild, the group’s chief executive, said: ‘We remain in open dialogue with our UK franchisees, actively exploring winwin solutions for stimulating growth and new store openings.
‘Internationally, performance remains disappointing and trading visibility is limited.’
