JEREMY Corbyn is ‘disgusting’ for supporting Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, Mr Pompeo said.
The US Secretary of State yesterday condemned the Labour leader for backing the ‘murderous dictator’. Mr Corbyn has been a cheerleader for Maduro while the British Government has condemned his regime.
Once the richest country in South America, Venezuela is on the brink of economic ruin with inflation running at 1.6million per cent. Critics accuse Maduro and his supporters of voterigging and fraud.
Asked about Mr Corbyn’s backing for the socialist dictatorship, Mr Pompeo said: ‘It is disgusting to see leaders in not only the UK but in the US as well who continue to support the murderous dictator Maduro.’
In another strike at Mr Corbyn, Mr Pompeo said anti-Semitism was a ‘cancer’ that must be stopped. The Labour leader has been accused of failing to deal with the crisis in his party.
