I AM at a loss to understand why there is such an obsession with Prince Harry and Meghan and the birth of their first child.

This self-centred couple have made it clear they wish to keep their personal lives private and find media attention unwelcome.

I am not sure why they should consider themselves deserving of different treatment from the rest of the royal Family, who accept that public interest comes with the job.

Harry and Meghan’s behaviour is disappointing, as while they appear to think they are going to change the world and wish to be involved in charities that help the disadvantaged, they continue to flaunt their affluent lifestyle.

This glitzy, showbiz approach does not sit comfortably with the dignity expected of the royal Family.

If they want total privacy, I would suggest they relinquish their royal role and all the perks that go with it and settle for a life away from the public’s gaze, where they can practise yoga and healthy eating to their hearts’ content.

But my guess is they will choose to carry on living their life of luxury at the taxpayers’ expense.

SUSAN RICHARDSON, Sheffield. MEGHAN and Harry deserve quality private time with their newborn son. Most of the public have been happy to be patient and wait a few days to celebrate this special time with them. I wish them every joy.
