Diabetes lottery

THE Prime Minister has been photographed wearing the latest device for

controlling type 1 diabetes. It is extremely helpful when you have a demanding job because it saves time taking blood samples and injecting insulin.

This device is available on the NHS, but only if you qualify for it, which apparently my daughter does not.

As a single parent with a fulltime career caring for the elderly, she has to carry on struggling to take samples and self-inject during work and through the night.

If she had an important job in government, I wonder if she would qualify?
