DRAGON FIRED UP FOR DERBY

CHESTER VASE winner Sir Dragonet has been promoted to favourite for next month’s Investec Derby. After Circus Maximus had strengthened Aidan O’Brien’s Derby hand by beating stablemate Mohawk in the Dee Stakes, the trainer (right) said: ‘Sir Dragonet is a lovely, compact, well balanced horse and he obviously has a massive engine. I couldn’t have been more impressed with him.’ O’Brien runs Anthony Van Dyck in tomorrow’s Lingfield trial and Broome in Leopardstown’s Derby Trial on Sunday. He has five of the top seven in the Derby betting and Paddy Power make it 8-11 that one of his horses wins the race.
