Dominic West’s colourful girl
UPSTAGING an A-lister actor is no mean feat, but that’s what Dominic West’s eldest daughter, Martha, did when she accompanied him to the outlandish Met Gala this week.
Used to top billing in dramas such as The Affair and The Wire, he had to settle for a supporting role at the New York fashion jamboree where Martha wore an outre ensemble. Composed of multi-coloured fabrics and styles, the dress was created by upand-coming British designer Matty Bovan.
Though still a student, Martha did not look out of place among the famous faces.
Then again, the 21-year- old is used to mixing in elevated circles — her mother is Polly Astor, granddaughter of the first female MP, Nancy Astor.
Reading English Lit at Oxford, Martha has thrown herself into the dramatic arts, winning rave reviews for a play she co-directed and performed in, Skin A Cat, which explores sexuality. Student paper Cherwell reported: ‘The production dextrously and humorously articulates all the nuances of a far more complicated sexual awakening than the one we bargained for.’ Golly.
