MANY contain chemicals called triclosan and triclocarban, which act as an antimicrobial agent (they are also found in antibacterial hand gels, mouthwashes and deodorants). Widespread use of triclosan has contributed to bacterial resistance to antimicrobial agents.
ALTERNATIVE: Try Method anti-bac all purpose cleaner £3 from Waitrose (which uses a naturally derived lactic acid as its germbusting ingredient) or mix a few drops of tea-tree oil (a natural disinfectant) and a tablespoon of vinegar with water in a spray bottle.
