WHAT’S HOT WHAT’S NOT

HOT GEOFFREY BOYCOTT

CRICKET’S favourite curmudgeon has a deep love for Manchester United, but that will never get in the way of what he would call an honest opinion. Asked by the club’s in-house TV channel MUTV at their Player of the Year dinner what United means to him, he replied without blinking: ‘Disappointment.’

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO

IT HAS been a great week for English football with four of our teams reaching the finals of the two big European competitions (one considerably bigger than the other, obviously). But one club who managed to beat Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea this season? Nuno’s emerging Wolves team. They will be great to watch again next season.

HAMZA CHOUDHURY

CHARGED and later fined £5,000 by the FA for a tweet he posted when he was a child — Choudhury was 15 years old — the midfielder, now 21, responded with a magnificent display as Leicester City ran Manchester City close last Monday night. It was his sixth start in the Premier League and it will be a surprise if he does not make many more in the years to come.

NOT LUIS SUAREZ

THE Barcelona player said he would not celebrate if he scored against former club Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final second leg, but he never got the chance to show he meant it. Meanwhile, the booing of Suarez by the Liverpool supporters at Anfield was small-minded and sad. For those who are confused, he was not born on Merseyside and, as such, was never going to stick around for long.

HAL ROBSON-KANU

HAVING scored only four Championship goals all season and one since November, it is hard to say the West Bromwich Albion forward has been key to his club’s promotion effort. Nevertheless, the red card he received for kicking out at Derby County’s Bradley Johnson was stupid, largely because he did it in the last minute of a game that was already lost. He will now miss the play-offs after his club failed in their ambitious attempts to get the dismissal overturned.

UEFA

CHELSEA and Arsenal will receive just 6,000 tickets each for the Europa League final in Baku, Azerbaijan, at the end of the month. The only surprise is that people are surprised.
