WALLACE IN CHARGE

- DEREK LAWRENSON reports from Hillside

THE British Masters revival will continue with a capacity crowd for today’s third round at Hillside with an Englishman leading the way. Matt Wallace has signed up fitness coach Steve McGregor, who transformed Rory McIlroy from a teenager with back problems into world No 1. McGregor also worked with Lee Westwood, who made it to No 1 too, so Wallace has some standard to match. ‘When you’ve got the chance to listen to someone who helped those two become No 1, you have to take it,’ said the 29-year-old. ‘If he can get some of that magic to rub off on me, then hopefully I can get there myself, or close.’ Wallace has played 36 holes here without a bogey, adding a 65 to his 67 to set the pace on 12 under. He has a one-shot lead over Belgian Thomas Detry, Swede Niklas Lemke and Ross Fisher.
