CITY CAN’T LET EURO ENVY RUIN BID FOR TITLE

-

THE accolades are pouring in for the four Premier League clubs who have made it to both European finals. Manchester City, meanwhile, arguably the best of the lot, have had to watch it all unfold before their eyes. Pep Guardiola’s players may have done that with some envy. ‘That could have been us,’ they will have been thinking as they watched Liverpool and Tottenham seal their spots in the Champions League final. Well, this weekend is their time to shine. That is what they have to think now. They can be crowned Premier League champions. They can’t change what is happening in Europe but what they can do is beat Brighton and win the title. An achievement like that should not be underestimated. The fact we have four English sides in European finals shows just how competitive the Premier League is. That must be daunting for the likes of Leicester, Wolves or Watford, who desperately want to break into that elite group. However, the big clubs currently seem to be in a league of their own, and City could be about to top them all.
