Actress calls for a ‘sex strike’ in protest at abortion laws

-

A ME-TOO campaigner has called for a ‘sex strike’ to protest strict new abortion laws.

Actress Alyssa Milano, who spoke out about the disgraced film executive Harvey Weinstein, urged women to stop having sex ‘until we get bodily autonomy back’. It came after Georgia became the fourth US state this year to ban abortions once a heartbeat is detected, which can be as early as six weeks – before many women know they’re pregnant.

Citing a sex strike by Liberian women in 2003 aimed at ending the country’s civil war, the 46-year-old Charmed actress called on women to remember ‘we have control over our bodies and how we use them’.
