Twin Peaks star Peggy dies at 72

TWIN Peaks star Peggy Lipton has died of cancer at the age of 72.

Miss Lipton, pictured, was previously married to music producer Quincy Jones. The couple’s daughter, Rashida Jones, went on to become an actress herself.

Rashida and her sister Kidada Jones said their mother died on Saturday surrounded by her family. ‘She made her journey peacefully... we feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her,’ the pair said in a statement. ‘Peggy was and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond.’

Miss Lipton first found fame in the US with her Golden Globe award-winning role as an undercover police officer in The Mod Squad. She married Quincy Jones in 1974, divorcing him in 1989 before starring as Norma Jennings in David Lynch’s cult 1990s series Twin Peaks. She was romantical­ly linked with a string of music legends, including Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis Jr.
