Shake up new Bond movie
WITH the 25th 007 movie in production, I would like to make a plea as a projectionist who has screened most of the classic Bonds. The producers have the opportunity to make this milestone something special and return to the flavour of the original early productions featuring the best of the Bonds, Sean Connery. The theme song should be offered to Dame Shirley Bassey because of her association with Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever, and the orchestral film music must be in the style of John Barry. When it comes to photography, inspiration could be taken from Freddie Young’s outstanding cinematography on You Only Live Twice. The presentation should also be special, with the few remaining top-class real cinemas screening the film in 70mm Super Panavision. Bond is in a class of his own. Treat him with respect.
