MANCHESTER UNITED finished 32 points behind champions Manchester City — as many as they finished ahead of relegated Cardiff. This is the most points United have finished behind their Manchester rivals and the first time they have lost to Cardiff since the first manned space flight in 1961. They lost 3-0 at Ninian Park in 1960. 36 GOALS scored on the final day, one short of the record for a 38-game Premier League season. There were 37 goals on the final day in 2016-17 — including a 7-1 win for Liverpool at Hull and Man City beating Watford 5-0.
