Medical exodus

-

i ThinK i know why the nhS is in crisis.

i have just spent eight days in hospital. The junior doctor on the orthopedic ward who qualified two years ago, having been to university

in Swansea, is off to Australia later this year. When I asked if he will have to repay all the cost of his studies to become a doctor, I was surprised to be told no.

A newly qualified nurse told me she is earning £12.50 an hour doing 12-hour shifts. My grandson, who has just turned 18, works for the Co-op while studying and is earning £8.75 an hour. E. ROLAND SHERWOOD,

Swansea.
