Today’s poem

- LIFELINE

There are times in life when the only thing, The only thing we can do, Is tie a knot, then hold on tight To the rope, as it pulls us through. Times when the strength which once was a part Of our body, our soul and our mind Has fled, in the face of some crushing attack, And left just its shadow behind. When there seems to be wasteland all around, Hostile and barren and bleak, With never a glimpse, through lowering clouds, Of the comforting light which we seek. And nothing seems to matter much, Not the way it should, It’s far too hard to separate The evil from the good. For, all the golden strands of life, The peace and joy and hope, Can only be located now Within that piece of rope. When fear and dread swirl all about And trap us in their flow, We can but grasp that knotted twine Hang on, and don’t let go.
