Veterans under fire

IT IS a pity more Conservative party MPs do not go on strike like Johnny Mercer over the disgraceful treatment of Northern Ireland veterans.

He displayed courage on the battlefield in Helmand and now by putting his head above the political parapet.

I served in Belfast, Iraq and Afghanistan and I view Theresa May’s waffling replies when MPs ask her questions about the witch-hunts of our troops and veterans as an affront to my service. The PM likes to praise our military, but shows a lack of resolve in ending the hounding.

Hopefully, Penny Mordaunt, the latest incumbent as Defence Secretary, will sort out this shameful situation once and for all.
