Patched-up Peter eyes final

OAK PARK’S Paul Stephens and Peter Rutland hope it will be third time lucky in their quest to reach the finals of The Daily Mail foursomes. The Crondall club duo beat North Hants two up to reach the fourth round, the second time in three tries they have made it this far. Rutland was playing with a heavily bandaged wrist, after he sprained it two weeks ago while working on his farm. ‘We were in agreement we’d rather give the match a go and lose rather than concede it and we’re glad we did,’ said Stephens, a 13 handicapper. ‘We would love to go one better, but we know there are many good pairings out there who stand in our way.’
