Cash Isa rates catching up

THE top rate on easy-access cash Isas is now neck and neck with that on ordinary accounts.

Cash Isa rates usually lag behind other accounts.

But Coventry BS now pays 1.5 pc on its Easy Access Isa (Online) (2), matching the rate on Marcus by Goldman Sachs’s ordinary easyaccess account.

A quarter of a million savers have piled into the Marcus account since its launch last September.

The Coventry Isa includes a 0.35 percentage point bonus payable until August 31, 2020. The rate then drops to 1.15 pc.

The Marcus 1.5 pc includes a 0.15 point bonus for a year, giving an overall rate of 1.35 pc.
