Betrayal of trust
ThERE was a time not too long ago when we could trust MPs to honour their manifestos. Politicians were respected and honest. Where are they now?
Our Parliament was rightly the envy of the world, but sadly it is now regarded as a laughing stock.
And there was a time when you could rely on the police to conduct themselves in a manner befitting their duties. They were trusted to protect us and investigate crime. Where are they now?
Is it too much to ask that public servants — who, after all, are employed by taxpayers — remember those halcyon days and treat us with the respect we not only deserve but pay for, mostly through our noses? MIKE WALKER, Highley, Shropshire.
