Daltrey goes potty after fans smoke cannabis at Who gig

- By David Gardner

ROGER Daltrey has ranted at fans who were smoking drugs during one of The Who’s concerts – moaning that he is allergic to cannabis smoke.

During a break between songs, the 74year-old singer, pictured, lost his cool with fans puffing away at the band’s Madison Square Gardens gig in New York.

‘All the ones smoking grass down in the front there, I’m totally allergic to it,’ Daltrey told the crowd, according to a video posted on YouTube by a fan who was at Monday night’s show.

When fans appeared to snigger, the veteran rocker, who once sang the lyric ‘I hope I die before I get old’, insisted: ‘I’m not kidding. Whoever it is down there, you f****d my night. I’m allergic to that s*** and my voice just goes.’ The incident happened during The Who’s 25-date Moving On! tour of North America. Daltrey and Pete Townshend, 73, the other surviving member from The Who’s original line-up, are backed by a 48-piece orchestra. They will play one concert at Wembley Stadium in July. It is not the first time Daltrey has taken issue with marijuanapuffing fans. Four years ago, on the band’s 50th anniversary tour, he threatened to walk off stage at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York.
