Royal first for Queen’s Dean
THE Queen appointed a woman to be the Church’s lead representative at the Royal Court yesterday for the first time.
Bishop Sarah Mullally, who was appointed Bishop of London last year, will take over as the Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal – a role created in the Middle Ages – this summer when the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Lord Chartres retires after 24 years. One of the first tasks the mother-of-two, pictured, could face is baptising Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
