CHARLES DANCE!
He looks just like Fred Astaire at Palace party
‘As charming as she had hoped’
AFTER putting on his top hat, tying up his – ahem – lilac tie and brushing off his tails, what else was Prince Charles supposed to do?
The playful prince struck a pose reminiscent of Fred Astaire as he greeted excited garden party guests at Buckingham Palace. The 70- year- old, who is more renowned for his writing, riding and horticulture, looked every bit the renaissance man for the first of the Queen’s royal garden parties.
He was joined in the sunshine yesterday by his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Princess Anne.
Careful to stay in the shade, he armed himself with an umbrella.
As he mingled with the 8,000 guests, Charles met Iva Barr, a 91-year-old marathon runner from Bedford – who later confessed he was every bit as charming as she had hoped. Every year the Queen invites 30,000 guests to her evening garden parties which honour those who have had a positive impact on their communities.
