Waitrose’s online deal
WAItrOSe has struck a deal with today Development Partners (tDP) to replace Ocado.
the supermarket said it now plans to treble the size of its online business to £1bn in the next three years.
ecommerce platform tDP was set up by Jonathan Faiman, one of the founders of Ocado, who was formerly its chief operating officer. He used yesterday’s announcement to take a swipe at his fellow Ocado co-founder, chief executive tim Steiner, saying he was ‘more excited about this new venture than anything I’ve done in my career’.
In February Ocado signed a £750m tie-up with Marks & Spencer that spelled the end of its 20-year relationship with Waitrose.
