UNITED IN LINE FOR £15m IF ZAHA GOES

- By SAMI MOKBEL and ADRIAN KAJUMBA

MANCHESTER UNITED will net up to £15million if Crystal Palace sell Wilfried Zaha this summer, due a lucrative sell-on clause.

As Sportsmail exclusively revealed yesterday, Zaha (below) has told Palace he wants to play Champions League football — and the club will want £80m.

The huge price tag is partly motivated by a clause in the deal that saw the forward return to Palace from Old Trafford in 2015 for £6m.

It is understood United are entitled to up to 20 per cent of the profit gained from Zaha’s next move.

The money would certainly help United pay for what looks likely to be a busy summer.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was told by executive vicechairman Ed Woodward yesterday he will be backed over transfers. Solskjaer, who is chasing Swansea winger Dan James, 21, is expected to rebuild, with an emphasis placed on emerging, hungry talent. ‘After a turbulent season, everyone is focused on building towards the success that this great club expects and our fans deserve,’ said Woodward, as United announced their latest financial results. The club’s wage bill increased by £9.7m in the quarter year on year, but the club are still forecasting a record turnover of between £615m and £630m.
