PRINCE Harry formally registered the birth of his son Archie yesterday, listing Meghan’s occupation as ‘ Princess of the United Kingdom’.

The birth certificate also formally confirms that the baby was born at the private Portland Hospital in central London, as revealed by the Daily Mail 11 days ago.

Meghan, 37, might have chosen ‘actress’ as her occupation, having starred in television dramas since she was 20.

Or she could have told Harry to put down ‘activist’, to reflect her work championing everything from women’s equality to human rights, or even ‘lifestyle guru’.

She has never previously described herself as a princess, using, instead the title Duchess of Sussex, which was conferred on her by Queen Elizabeth on her wedding day last May – the couple celebrate their first wedding anniversary tomorrow.

Normally, parents have to attend a register office within 42 days of a child being born. But in the case of Archie, the seventh in line to the throne, the deputy registrar of Westminster, Dexsha Mevada, travelled 22 miles to Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle. She used a standard certificate to register the birth of ‘Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’. In contrast to his Cambridge cousins, Archie’s name is not prefixed ‘His Royal Highness Prince’. Harry listed his own occupation as He years ‘Prince served running to 2015 of in the charitable and the United also Army Kingdom’. has schemes. for positions ten Miss Mevada filled in the certificate before it was signed by Harry, who has spent the past 12 days getting to know Archie. The certificate states the date and place of Archie’s birth – May 6 and the Portland Hospital in Westminster. Harry’s full name, ‘His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex’, is given, as is his wife’s full married name, ‘Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex’. The duke signed the certificate simply ‘Harry’.

The duchess would never be known as Princess Meghan in her own right because she was not ‘born royal’, although the Duchess of Cambridge will become Princess Catherine of Wales when Prince Charles, becomes king.
