PC: I took deep breath and charged
A POLICEMAN told yesterday how he fought all three London Bridge terrorists with just a baton as they attacked him like a ‘wolf pack’.
Wayne Marques, a constable with the British Transport Police, said he just tried to ‘hold on and keep them fighting until the cavalry arrived’.
PC Marques, 40, who has undergone a series of operations on his head, leg and hand, said: ‘I just sucked in as much as I could as if I was going in for a fight. I got my baton out and charged. I kept going as long as I could.’
The officer was stabbed eight times by the ‘cold and calculating’ fanatics after stopping the frenzied attack on Marie Bondeville and Oliver Dowling. His intervention probably saved their lives and he received the George Medal for bravery.
