Now speedboat killer launches second appeal
SPEEDBOAT killer Jack Shepherd has launched a fresh appeal – this time against his conviction for running away.
Shepherd spent ten months on the run in Georgia, and when he was brought back to Britain he was given a six-month sentence for absconding on top of his sixyear term for manslaughter.
Both his appeals are due to be heard at the beginning of next month.
The 31-year-old was convicted in his absence of manslaughter after his speedboat flipped on the Thames killing his date Charlotte Brown, 24. He tried to make a new life for himself in the former Soviet republic, but caused outrage by launching an appeal against his conviction from his hideaway using legal aid. Lawyers who represented Shepherd at his trial did not respond to a request for comment.
