WHITBREAD boss Alison Brittain was paid £5.6m – £3.2m more than last year despite profits falling 39pc. The UK’s largest hospitality company blamed an ‘acute period of political and economic uncertainty in the UK’ as demand from business customers fell. Brittain, 54, was boosted by a £ 3.7m share reward for selling coffee chain Costa.
