KEEP TWO UP TOP, IT’S WATFORD’S ONLY HOPE

-

JAVI GRACIA must be brave enough to play two up front if Watford are to stand any chance of beating Manchester City and lifting the FA Cup. That is how they usually play, with two strikers and two inverted wingers who cut inside, allowing their full backs Jose Holebas and Kiko Femenia to give them width. It has brought them success for much of the season. The two times Watford have played City this term, Gracia has gone away from the two-striker system and opted to play with just one. They have lost both times. The change helped Watford be compact and they defended well but without an outlet it was always going to be difficult not to succumb to the total domination of City’s artists. There is no point in it being a damage limitation exercise.
