THIS IS WHAT 52 LOOKS LIKE

- By FLORENCE SCORDOULIS

PAOLA BROWN lives in Kent with her husband, Tony. They have two children, Aliyah, 21, and Marcel, 19. She works in financial services.

MOISTURISING MOUSSE

I ONLY wash my hair once a week, so it doesn’t get too dry. Then I apply Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam (£12.75,

lookfantastic.com). It helps to condition the curls, so they don’t get too crunchy, as I often find with High Street products. I’ve been using it for 15 years. I add a spritz of Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray (£15.25) for a glossy finish.

MOTHER DAUGHTER MAKEOVER

MY DAUGHTER is always asking to give me makeovers. Last year, she told me my eyebrows were bushy! So I now get them threaded, every three weeks. It’s painful, but only costs £5 and makes a real difference. I don’t want them too thin, but it tidies them up. She also got me into Nars Brow Gel (£19, johnlewis.

com), which I use daily for definition.

BARGAIN DRESSES

WHEN my mum was my age, she wasn’t as adventurous as me. I still love shopping at places like Zara, H&M, Misguided, New Look, Primark and River Island. I recently found a beautiful £20 black midi dress in Matalan, with yellow flowers, a high collar and fitted waist. I wore it to my daughter’s 21st birthday do and got lots of compliments. The key is to pair bargain buys with good-quality shoes or a coat.

SPECIAL OCCASION LASHES

A FEW years ago I tried lash extensions (£50). They lasted a month. I thought they looked amazing in photos, as they really open up your eyes. But I didn’t like the feel of them and was worried about damaging my own lashes. So, though I’d get them for a special occasion, I stick to my Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara on a daily basis (£4.99, Boots).

FAST WEIGHT LOSS

LAST YEAR, I started the 5:2 diet, where you fast two days a week. I’d put on weight with age, despite starting running. So, on fast days, I now eat two light meals: muesli at 12pm, vegetables and fish at 7pm. On other days, I eat soup for lunch, too. In three months, I lost a stone and went down from a size 14 to a 12. It’s such a confidence boost. DO YOU look good for your age? Reveal your secrets to inspire@dailymail.co.uk
