ZARA LARSSON will be joining KEN BRUCE (RADIO 2, 9.30AM) to pick her Tracks Of My Years this week. Zara (pictured) — who won Swedish television’s big talent show when she was just ten years old and performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Euro 2016 tournament — has been working on a new album. She opens her week’s selection with a song from Lady Gaga and music from the soundtrack of the film Twilight.

CHAIRMAN Nicholas Parsons is in charge of a dream team of panellists for the second show of the current series of JUST A MINUTE (RADIO 4, 6.30PM). He will, however, have his work cut out trying to get Gyles Brandreth, Graham Norton, Lucy Porter and Paul Merton to toe the line and speak on a given subject

without repetition, hesitation or deviation.

ROMANY languages have roots in the deep past. A Transylvanian pastor noticed that the languages spoken by Romanies shared many features with the language of Sri Lankan students he had met. A later book, written in 1782, traced the connection between Romany and Sanskrit. Michael Rosen is joined on this week’s edition of WORD OF MOUTH (RADIO 4, 11PM) by Damian Le Bas, author of The Stopping Places: A Journey Through Gypsy Britain, to talk about the origins of Romany.
