Is it time for us to give Eurovision ‘nul points’?
WE SHOULD stop participating in the Eurovision Song Contest. Michael Rice didn’t deserve to come last, which was embarrassing and humiliating. The UK is just not popular and the contest is riddled with political and tactical voting. The UK’s song should have gained more votes than it did, which it would have done if Michael had been representing another country. Let’s not subject another UK singer to that fate next year.
J. SAYERS, Hastings, E. Sussex. AFTER another dismal performance, surely it is time to leave this biased and corrupt event. I propose we create a Commonwealth Song Contest as a showcase of the musical talents of the many wonderful nations that share a common heritage.
ADAM OAKLEY, Derby.
THE BBC must stop wasting any more licence payers’ money on this tawdry farce. If a commercial channel wants to broadcast such a demeaning circus, fair enough, but don’t make me contribute.
CHARLES JORDAN, Morden, Surrey. ADELE belting out one of her finest wouldn’t have fared any better. DEREK FAWELL, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
WHAT a waste of money, time, effort and maybe talent. Anyone could have predicted our last place.
MIKE WILLIAMS, Bagillt, Flintshire. MY LOCAL bookmaker turned down my bet on Eurovision: £10 on the UK to be in the bottom three. J. LAMOND, Workington, Cumbria.
