HOT IRISH MISSION

- MARCUS TOWNEND

TOO DARN HOT, ruled out of the Investec Derby after his second to Telecaster in the Dante Stakes at York last Thursday, could make a quick reappearance in Saturday’s Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh. John Gosden’s colt is among 16 entries, headed by Aidan O’Brien’s favourite Magna Grecia, winner of the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. Gosden still has three of the 18 entries in the Derby a week on Saturday and is looking at running Private Secretary, who won the same Sandown handicap in April as Gosden’s Jack Hobbs before he was second to stablemate Golden Horn in the 2015 Derby. O’Brien is likely to run seven in the Derby — Sir Dragonet, Anthony Van Dyck, Broome, Cape of Good Hope, Circus Maximus, Norway and Japan.
