Tottenham kids delay holidays to help final bid

TOTTENHAM academy players have postponed their summer holidays to help the first team prepare for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Youngsters at the club’s Enfield HQ would usually be on their summer getaways by now.

Instead, a number of the club’s youngsters have delayed their end-of-season breaks to help the first team with preparations for the showpiece match against Jurgen Klopp’s side in Madrid on June 1.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino (right) has put his senior squad on tailored training regimes, some of which include full days in the gym.

Having academy players at his disposal means Pochettino is not short of numbers on the training field if first-teamers are completing indoor work or forced to pull out due to injury.

Spurs head to Madrid a week today — four days before the big game against the Premier League runners-up.

Harry Kane is on course to be fit for the final, but is entering a critical period of his rehabilitation after an ankle ligament injury.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg

Spurs hope the England captain will be fit to return to full training early next week. Pochettino will make a final decision over his inclusion after seeing him train.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have handed ‘indefinite’ bans to three supporters who tried to sell their Champions League final tickets on a secondary platform.

Spurs have been allocated just 16,613 tickets for the game at Atletico Madrid’s 64,000- seater Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Three season-ticket holders were contacted after listing their final tickets on a resale site.

Spurs have urged fans not to ‘ruin one of the biggest occasions in the club’s history’.
