Monty Don’s a secret big breakfast fanatic

gArDeNerS’ World presenter Monty Don admits that collaborating with photographer Derry Moore, aka the earl of Drogheda, is hungry work.

‘you may think that we went to look at gardens,’ he tells me at the launch of their latest book, Japanese gardens, at Christie’s in St James’s. ‘In fact, the whole point of travelling with Derry is to look for breakfast.

‘I’ve been pretty much round the world searching for good breakfasts with Derry. It’s quite competitive, because he will try to out-breakfast you and take what you’ve got.’
