Save British Steel

I AM a pensioner, but am willing to give some of my cash to help British Steel workers keep their jobs.

this country has many millionaires and, if some gave money, plus donations tio from ordinary people, we should be able to come to the rescue.

YVONNE LACEY, Rye, E. Sussex. BRITISH BR Steel is in this dire situation because be it was forced to stump up £1201 million to pay an EU carbon emissions em bill, thus avoiding an even more m crippling £600 million fine.

Sadly, S our gutless Government had allowed al the EU to impose this cost under un the ‘save the planet from CO2’ emissions em trading scheme.

Had H we left the EU on March 29 as scheduled, sc the Government could have ha given two fingers to the EU and ignored ig this punitive demand. Labour and an the tories have yet to learn you can’t ca have a carbon-free economy and an a thriving steel industry. KEVIN O’SULLIVAN,
