Ridiculous complaint

THE treatment of dr Keith Wolverson has been a total disgrace. His request for a mother to remove her veil during a consultation so he could be clear as to what she was saying about her child’s health was entirely reasonable and could not be considered offensive.

the veil has been associated with men subjugating women, and this appears to be what happened here. the husband didn’t like it and made this ridiculous complaint to the General Medical Council.

If dr Wolverson leaves the medical profession, it is not only the woman’s child who won’t be treated, but the whole community which relies on this experienced and dedicated doctor.

the fact that he is being investigated by the GMC and could face being struck off explains why this country is short of doctors and why many have become disillusioned.

THE plight of dr Wolverson is a golden opportunity for the leaders of the Muslim community to speak up in support of this GP doing his job and putting his patient first.

they must try yet again to rein in and re-educate those who choose to misinterpret the Koran.
